I am truly excited about my 2017 CD release, Almost Real. It includes 8 upbeat original tunes and a bluezy cover of Back in the Saddle Again by Gene Autry. All the musicians did a fantastic job and I am very happy with the final product. I think you are gonna like this one, at least as much as, if not more than, my 1998 release of Sista' Moon. Music and lyrically its better crafted.
Almost Real includes Jane on Vocals and Rhythm/Lead Guitars.; harmonica dynamo Curtis Waterman (cuts 2, 9); vocalist/trumpet player Tamaralee Shutt (cuts 1, 5, 6, 8, 9); and special guest Queen Bee Brand recording artist George Rossi on keys (B3 organ/piano, cuts 1, 2, 5, 6, 8). There is also a stellar rhythm section; stand-up bass player Joey Arcuri & Phil Leone on traps & cajon. Additional special guests including George Newton with sweet pedal-steel guitar on Feels Real (cut 1); and Frank Grosso, who adds bottom to Rain (cut 4), with baritone saxophone.. The Zelltones' back-up singers include a posse of talented friends; Connie Walters, Colleen Kattau, Tamaralee Shutt, Gamil Ashaun and Zoe Mullen-Stout..
I want to thank George Rossi for his participation, know how, and fabulous input and performance.. It really made the presentation of my material come together in a way that was beyond my expectation. Besides being a great player, George's degree of experience in music brought many insights and suggestions to my project, and it lends to its success - thank you George!
The record was done at SubCat Recording Studio in Syracuse, NY.. Jeremy Johnson and the staff were both, professional and supportive. I appreciate the creative upbeat and positive space they provided for me to work in. It made for a very positive experience.
I hope you all take the time to give Almost Real a listen, you can sample the tunes on CDBaby (check for the link on my home page.). If you are interested in a hard copy – disc format, please contact me on the provided form, 15.00 includes shipping..
The Zelltones Band - A blast - we go both ways - smooth and edgy. The band loves to ‘gel’ down with some deep grooves that get people out on the dance floor. We never linger to long in one genre and go from Bluezy-jazz, jazzy-blues, rock, funk, lil' Latin, and R&B..
Solo and small combos - Jane loves to have an opportunity to play solo or in smaller combos;. Country-blues, jazzy- blues, pop, rock.
Dos XX - Stoked to be playing with Dos XX as their main guitarist. Band leader & lead vocalist, Colleen Kattau is a fine performer and songwriter and her Latin music is incredibly sensuous and savory. Love it - honored to be part of the group..
Jane Zell the performer - I hope to keep my sound authentic while avoiding becoming too much of a cartoon of myself or too much of a cover band! I try to keep the music familiar enough to connect to the listener and fresh enough to keep it interesting, Performances include cover and originals as well. If you want top-forty hits till dawn there is something wrong - you haven't heard us perform yet - try it you will like it. Let's keep the party fresh!
